Coaxial cable is susceptible to water ingress causing the conducting sheath to be ruined by oxidisation. Poor waterproofing is often the cause of breakdown (bad contact, arcing, mismatch) and to replace a connector which is at the top of a mast isn’t always the most pleasant thing to do especially if it happens in winter! Protection of connections subject to intemperate weather and climatic changes is therefore not to be neglected. The waterproofing products which we have selected are made in Europe to the strictest standards and are intended to last. We have used them in the professional and radio amateur radioelectric field for more than 30 years.
