Insulator in reinforced polyethylene consisting of 3 tubes which adapt for various diameters of vertical antenna.

The cross hole is intended for the passage, from one side to the other of the base, of a spindle for tilting the antenna

The very slight spacing between the 3 diameters of polyethylene making up the support is compensated for by two 50mm wide PVC seals.  If needed, these can easily be redone with a broad PVC adhesive tape.

Characteristics

• Length: 26 cm

• Diameter 1 (out/in) : 50/41 mm

• Diameter 2 (out/in) : 40/33 mm

• Diameter 3 (out/in) : 32/26 mm

Erection - DX AVENUE’S Hints and Tips

• There is such a range of aluminium tube diameters that it would be impossible to create a standard insulator perfectly suited to all the diameters in the market.  However, the availability of this triple reinforced polyethylene covering allows the closest approach to the diameter of the antenna.

• Depending on his requirements, the user can choose the section nearest the diameter of his antenna.  The aluminium tube can either slide over the polyethylene or slide into the inside of it (see the photo above).  One or two screws can cross  the whole in order to retain the aluminium tube in place.

• A broad PVC tape can also be applied around the tube to compensate for any possible too great an amount of play depending on the section of insulator used, and can avoid the need for transverse drilling.

• Sooner than withdrawing a complete section of polyethylene, it is advisable to cut it (with an ordinary metal saw) so as to leave about 5 cm of material above the cross spindle.  As well as the mechanical rigidity the sleeve thus shortened will act as a stop preventing the aluminium tube from slipping down to the spindle (see illustrations above).

• A guyed vertical antenna does not need to be solidly attached to its insulator.  A margin of play is thus quite tolerable and will not have any effect.
